I was wondering how many years have gone by since the first mage ended the war and the present storyline (and how many years ago he disappeared)

If I use the info in the about section + some math I get 400 years...

"the war started around 445 years ago. Both sides fought fiercely for forty-five years" 445 - 45 = 400, Am I right?

Just how long lived are most Mages really?

Another question I have regards the reason(s) for the war between Solum and Sei, when I started reading I assumed they fought over some long forgotten animosity and were both forced to "play nice" under the eyes of the first mage fore 20,40 maybe even 60 years until he disappeared, but if it's true that it's been 400 years since the conflict what legitimate reason do they have to start again.
The only reasonable ones (beside some very very long lasting animosity) I could think of was resources: either Sei wants Solum's more fertile land OR Solum wants Sei's mineral deposits (Gold etc..).

I'm just curious - Greavlis

400 years would be correct.

Mages live longer then normal humans, both with an extended lifespan (usually around 10% longer/slower aging then a normal person,) and a tendency to be healthier.
Mages bonded to long lasting familiars usually live even longer, with a lifespan linked to their familiar.

Resources is a good part of the reason of the war. It was a battle over land, a rather large chunk between both countries.
However, the specifics will differ depending on whom you ask and their loyalties, and no one living really knows the truth anymore.

(So sorry that I took so long to reply! >.<)

Thanks for the reply AuroraDragonKaya.

Here's another of my annoying little questions:

While reading the Remake page 12 http://www.talcomic.com/images/comic/r012.jpg I noticed something that I had missed earlier, the Mage Mark that Raamah bears and Barak now shares, have parts that look remarkably like it was written in Lunelines (The Werewolf Language) if you look at it closely.
You can see this on these pages: 20, 21 and especially 24 where you can compare Barak's speech balloon with the mark

This is interesting considering what you wrote about Marks and what later happened to Raamah and Barak

From the About section on Marks:
Quote:
Every human born with magical potential has a special birthmark on their skin, indicating their elemental affinity, among other things. This mark can include arcane symbols, and each is individual to the mage who wears it.

Any comments on this remarkable resemblance?

Coincidence, though I have to say I'm pleased by your digging and noticing that. ;P

It does look quite similar, indeed.

Part of it, I'm sure, are both are derived from languages that are on a single line.

Lines and even parts of the spell circles are formed from Mongolian influenced writing.

The biggest inspiration for Lunelines was the Ogham, the druidic alphabet that can also be written with leaves. (I've always found that to be pretty awesome)

In Lunelines, like the Ogham, you can actually tell where a sentence begins and ends by the brackets that are at the beginning and ending of a sentence. :3 >-like-this<

Lunelines is also something that looks like it could be written with claws etc. ;) Or, if need be, leaves. Very Happy
