TaL Roleplay Character Contest 2007!
It's time for the next TaL con-*test*-('"), and this is one we've been wanting to hold for a while! ;D The general idea is for fans/players to create TaL characters, and prizes include appearances in the comic! Anyone who's character is approved by the mods is eligible to enter. Interested? Read on!

Rules and Requirements
Rules and Requirements Entries will be accepted until October 15th 2007, so take your time! ;3 To enter a character, first you have to make a character that fits well into the TaL world. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! There are several threads in which to do so. Then, you submit it with the other characters in the OOC section of the RP forums. forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=9>(Here.) Make sure it complies to all the rules. Once its approved, you may enter! All you have to do is post your characters submission thread in the OOC, located forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=11>here. Please post only their names. The required character MUST abide by all the rules of the roleplay and roleplay submission. The better it fits into the world and culture of Cheled, the better. Furthermore, judgment is based both on your submission AND your actual roleplaying, so keep that in mind when you enter. Which brings us to....

Judgement
Judgement Entries will be based on several things. Firstly, the actual character submission. This involves your characters past, personality, and abilities. Highly overpowered characters are NOT recommended. Second, slightly, biggest part of the judging is based on your actual roleplay- how well you interact with others, convey your character's personality through your posts, entertainment value, etc. It's more then that, of course, but don't worry about it- just have fun roleplaying! The final and most important aspect is how well your character fits into the TaL world and culture. If you have ANY questions, feel free to ask.

Prizes
Prizes And now, to the part everyone's really interested in- Prizes! Note, that any part of this prize is optional. If the winner does not for any reason want to accept their prizes, they will be given to the next place, however, the winner will still get to keep their title. ;) First Prize- The winning character will be made into an official minor character in the comic. They will have lines of dialogue and make multiple appearances. They will also receive a TaL poster and sticker set. Second and Third Prizes- The winning characters will each make at least a single appearance in the comic, including a few lines of dialogue. The winners will also receive TaL posters. Runner Ups- All runner ups will have cameos within the comic. Depending on circumstance, some MAY have dialogue. The number of runner ups may vary depending on the amount and quality of entries, and will likely be announced with the winners. Those who do not win, we hope you have fun roleplaying anyway! ;D Disclaimer: The Thunder and Lightning webcomic is something that will be shown on the web and it is our hope, eventually published. The winning characters WILL be credited to their creators, even in book form. However, in entering this con-*test*-('"), you are giving us rights to use your character, within this comic and if it happens, the published book version. This is supposed to be a reward, not a way for us to take advantage for you. If you are NOT ok with this, you may STILL enter- just say specifically in your post. If not, we assume you agree to these terms. Again, its our thoughts that seeing your credited characters in such a way would make you happy, but we felt it needed a disclaimer, just in case. ;3 Feel free to enter if you aren't comfortable with it.

So...it can be a character that allready exists? (One we've made prior to con-*test*-('"), I mean :P )

Yes, precisely. ;3 Any character that has been approved for play can be entered, it only needs to be posted in the con-*test*-('") thread. (This is to avoid anyone who already made a character but doesn't want to enter from having to worry about it.)

So how is this going to affect the RP? Is the winning character still usable? Will the events in the comic be coinciding with events in the RP? (Possible time scale problems if so. Since the RP's start, the comic has covered days while the time scale in the RP is probably measured in minutes. But discordant time scales do allow for events to be taking place in the between times.) Is the winner in danger of being killed off?

Good questions! Yes, the winning character will still be usable, and encouraged to continue to roleplay even after the con-*test*-('"). The events in the comic will indeed coincide with the rp, but very roughly, and really with only the major events being in the time frame. If the character wins, it'll be arranged they'll be at a spot where they can meet with the main characters of the comics, etc. If the winner wishes to be, they can be killed off. :P Otherwise, no, unless they did something incredibly suicidal... ;P

For our character designs. would you like for us to include a reference picture of what our character looks like (and one for the familiar?) P.S. You guys are doing a great job on the comic, b.t.w. It's one of the first online comics that has held my attention.

Wow, I'm very honored that we hold that position. ^^ And no, reference pictures are not required. (But we DO enjoy them, and it means that if you when, the character will be translated into the comic closer to your vision. :3 Plus, I know drawing characters can help ME develop them. XD) Of course, many people have gotten into the habit of references, usually of familiars. Myself, I DO appreciate it. (Though I should add that a picture alone is not a sufficient character description.)

Is bribery accepted in the case of bad artists? If so, what kind?
