"Hi Klaus. Nice to meet you. I'm Clarissa. She's Natalia, he's Lysurus." Clarissa said, feeling like it was her job to introduce everybody, and wondering why that was so. She was also worried, a little, that he did not actually understand English, and was, in fact, saying he was a Santa, for whatever reason. She sincerely hoped that was not the case.
"And this is Anli, my familiar, " Natalia added, slightly annoyed. She knew there was no reason, really, to introduce the coyote, but she did it anyway.
Anli, can you figure out what that rock he's holding is?Maybe... Anli answered doubtfully.
"Anyway, why are you here, Mr. Klaus?" Clarissa asked, wondering why Natalia had bothered introducing Anli. She doubted that this odd German person was from wherever Natalia had come from.

"Is anyone else creeped out by this guy?" Lysurus whispered to Natalia and Clarrisa. Your so kind to people.Silver thought to him. "Well, he is creepy!" Lysurus growled back. I think he heard you. "So, he doesn't know our language." Lysurus, just STOP TALKING!
Garuda- 04-30-2008
(I prolly should have written it Klauss. or Klauß. The 's' is unvoiced.)
He shaded his eyes and looked at each of them, closing one eye and peering through his monocle. After a few moments of scrutiny, he put his rock in his pocket, pulled off his headband and extracted the thick blue lens from it's frame, and polished it on his coat. He looked up and inquired of Clarissa, who seemed to be acting spokesperson for the group, "Wo... Where are we? Nicht Europe, da?"
Silvertip- 04-30-2008
"Don't be rude, Li," Natalia muttered to him. "Although Anli and I think that there's definitely something odd about him."
"No, not Europe. America. North America, to be exact." Clarissa assured Klaus. "Where are you supposed to be? If you need to get to Europe or wherever right now, I'm sure we can help you find a flight," she added, deciding that it was possible, if unlikely, that he was on a vacation or business trip and had gotten lost in a forest on the way to the airport. Sighing to herself, she decided that she might as well get it over with.
"How'd you get here? Are you a mage, too?"
Qman3000- 04-30-2008
"I'm not being rude, am I?" lysurus asked the odd little man. It looked as if he was actually going to reply when Ly continued, "See? He sayd I'm not." He 'says' nothing. "Hey, you guys never actually told me where we are... so, you know, could you?"
Garuda- 05-01-2008
Klaus looked at Lysurus strangely. His english was good enough to understand what he'd said, but he was less certain of quite what he was getting at. He elected not to respond, and instead looked back at Clarissa. He seemed nervous. "Amerika? Ah... Boat. Yes. I am running from war." He eyed her intently, clearly attempting to discern if she believed him, and what her reaction would be. Belatedly, he added "What a mage is?", demonstrating again his poor skills of deception.
Silvertip- 05-02-2008
"Ok, so you're just a regular perso- Wait, what war?" Clarissa asked, "I didn't think there were any wars in Germany at the moment." For the first time, she properly noticed his slightly odd clothes.
"Shoot."
Natalia, of course, assumed that it was the war she knew (and was against with every fiber of her being) and began to rant about the terrors of war, congratulating Klaus for having the good sense to get out of it.
"I'm a mage," she added at the end of her long and in-depth lecture. "See?" She pointed at Anli, "She's my familiar."
"What year is it?" Clarissa asked Klaus, ignoring Natalia. "It's very important. In fact, if you know the month and day, that'd be even better."
Qman3000- 05-02-2008
"Natalia, calm down. He doesn't understand what your saying. He also has no idea what a mage is, so telling him about your familiar would just confuse him." When did mister rational get here?Gee, thanks Silver. he thought sarcasticly, which is suprisingly difficult to do.
Garuda- 05-12-2008
Klaus stared for a moment, trying to assimilate the english. After a few moments of silence, he shrugged half-heartedly "Nineteen thirty nine. June, I think. It has been a long time since I have seen a calendar, you see. Do you have one?"
Silvertip- 05-12-2008
"Li, I am calm. Perfectly calm, " Natalia assured him, as if daring him to disagree. "And he obviously comprehends enough of whatever language it is we are speaking to-"
"1939?! You're sure? You aren't joking, are you?" Clarissa interrupted. Without waiting for a response, she continued, "But that would mean... Germany... World War Two... Ack!"
She stared at him, "Wow... Umm... It's 2008. The war you're running from... It's been over for decades!" She paused for a second, "Well, that's good for you, isn't it? At least I don't have to explain airplanes to you."
"2008? World War Two?!" Natalia asked in disbelief. "What is a World War? How many of them have there been? Li, have you ever heard of a 'World War?' Or Germany, for that matter?"
'Talia... calm down. This quite obviously is not our world. We knew that already, Anli reminded her mage.
Right. Thanks, Anli. Natalia took a deep breath. "Where exactly is Germany? For that matter, where exactly are we, Clarissa? I think we need to see a map or two."
"There are maps at my house. And Ace bandages. And food and water. Therefore I suggest we continue towards it. You can come too, Klaus," Clarissa added, "so long as you aren't going to be awful to any Jews." she didn't think that he was likely to do that, since he had said he was escaping the war, but it never hurt to be prepared.
Qman3000- 05-12-2008
"What are jews, and germany, and planes! I feel so out of the loop right now." 'Face it, your not very good at keeping up with current news,' Silver thought to Lysurus, 'I mean, it took you a week to notice that Clarrisa changed her hair from red to blue.''... ok, you have a good point. For once.'
Silvertip- 05-14-2008
((Um...What? Clarissa's hair? Not that I object to her hair being blue...but I believe I never stated her hair color...? That's like Anli suddenly claiming that Lysurus's hair mysteriously changed back to whatever color it had been before the fumbled spell ))
"Jews are people who practice the religion called Judaism. Germany is a country. I already told you what planes are." Clarissa told Lysurus irritably. "Unless more people show up, we'll be at my house in 15 minutes. I can explain whatever you wish to know about geography, history, and technology then, OK?"
Qman3000- 05-14-2008
((Clarissa = random name for an example of how unobservant Lys is... I just realized why your confused, I forgot the other charachter's name was Clarrisa. My bad))
"That sounds resonable. Shall we continute on our way to your house then?"
Silvertip- 05-15-2008
((Ah. Ok then.))
"Sure! It's...um..." She glanced around, "Oh. That way!" Clarissa pointed off t her left and began walking along.
Natalia, why are we going to her house, again? Anli asked suddenly, From her reactions to me, I think coyotes are rather rare, and absolutely never 'pets' And there don't seem to be any mages here but you and Lysurus.Well, she did promise to heal my ankle... Natalia thought for a second, Hmm... I guess just because that's what we're doing. Clarissa is the only person who knows anything about this place. Not true! I know how to get to that 'highway' thing!Yes, but you don't know what it is, besides dangerous. Things moving that fast have to be more dangerous than a perfectly immobile house!Natalia... Is the house perfectly immobile?
Natalia exchanged startled glances with her familiar.
"Hey.. Clarissa, your house... it doesn't move does it?"
"What? Move? No, only in earthquakes. And presumably if a large enough dragon attempted to pick it up it could..."
"What?!"
"I'm kidding!" Clarissa laughed, "No, no houses in my town have ever been known to have been lifted away by dragons! They all disappeared due to perfectly natural causes!"
"I... see"

Klaus followed the pack of magelings and their local host, lagging a bit behind, inspecting this company and surroundings through his cobalt lens, analyzing their radioisotopic signatures, and wondering how he got here, and if his situation has improved or not. More than anything he wonders what traditions his newfound friends follow. Verbena or the Order of Hermes, most likely, with their pet beasts. Perhaps they can help him find the nearest Etherite lab. After minutes of silence, he elects to reveal his alliances.
