Hey guys! I know, I know, it's been a while, no rping, nothing happening, everything seems dead and dreary and those precious characters you put so much into seem to be destined to waste away.... But worry not, for we have plans, huge, epic plans, and hopefully, you will like what you hear. ;3 When we first did this forum, we decided to try it in a free form system that was extremely player based... and this failed, for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being the player based part meaning without enough people, it just wouldn't work well. The other part was that it made the application system confusing for people, with no obvious 'limit' as far as power scale goes when creating characters. Lastly, something I realized later, was that the policy of 'no chance of affecting the world whatsoever' did not at all appeal to me. I am a gamer, have done tabletop role play for several years now, and I know and have learned that being able to influence things, making a difference, is a lot of fun. Why shouldn't you be allowed to? So, a few things are going to change. You still will not be able to have an real relations to major players in the comic. You also will have an application form more like a games player sheet, with points to distribute to represent strength in different powers/abilities etc. (Note, this does NOT mean you should consider the character a 'machine' or base it around the stats. It still must be a character, with personality. The stats do not define the character, they are they to represent your strengths and your limits.) You will also have at least one person whose roll is to be the classic 'storyteller' or 'dm,' so that even if there's only one person playing, they will still be able to play, and to have fun. However, you will also be allowed other things- the ability to grow, and the ability to influence the course of history and the war. While it will be carefully moderated, your characters will be the type of people who could potentially change the course of the world, for good or ill... and your actions' influence could potentially have an affect on the background of the comic. So, sound good? ;P
