that, and you can't let them eat first. or else they will believe that they are the alpha and won't listen to you.

Personally I don't support raising wolves unless you have a pack, and if you do, they'd probably be much better off where they aren't fenced in. Dunno, after having slaughtered so many of them in our expanse to the west I'd feel bad knowing I'd be forcefully creating a lone wolf where it's instincts tell him to find others like himself, unless he was sickly or something oO; Just my opinion though.

what about the buffalo?
no one loves the buffalo.
Darmicon- 03-09-2007
The buffalo's old. Too old, in fact.
Zigren- 03-09-2007
Actually, because we eradicated wolves from Yellowstone, the wolves we re-introduced were far less successfully than their predecessors. Although the newly integrated packs are finally picking up the old tricks of the trade of buffalo killing. Took 'em like a decade or so though x_x I also learned that wolves won't chase what doesn't run, although they'll circle until you do o.O;; from the same documentary!
Besides, I've eaten buffalo steak before, it's not as good as cow steak, but that's just me~

You want to hear something really terrible?
A few years ago, when my family and I were on a vacation at, I dunno, Montana or something, there was this sort of "American safari" that you could drive through with your car or whatever. My parents thought it would be cool, so we went through and saw a bunch of buffalo, among other things.
Afterwards, people were hungry, so it was decided we'd stop at a place that specialized at, of all the things they could have picked, buffalo burgers... Everyone except for me had one. After seeing those big galumfy animals, I just couldn't bring myself to do it...

Awesome! I feel so special...!

As well you should, Lara. And I think we both know what I mean by that.
Anyway. Now that I've just insulted you, time for a question! Aside from being white and blue (and flowy), can you give me any pointers as to what the Undaquinus uniforms look like? I'm working on a mental picture of my girl, and that's a large, vague aspect of it.

I have some seemingly random questions i would like to ask...
When you have the magic symbol on you at birth, will you instinctivly know you can do magic?
Are there mages of the mind?
Are there Powers like reading minds? <- character concept based off of this
Are there any strange innate abilities people have that is not related to magic?
Thanks for you time :P
Irerising- 04-25-2007
I love it when we get questions... :D
All right. One, no, having a mark doesn't mean you instinctively know you can do magic. In fact, there are a great many people born with marks (such as in the Pirate territories) that don't ever learn of their magical potential, and thus, never train in it. Therefore, the gene for magic-use just lies dormant for their lifetimes, and that's pretty much that.
"Are there mages of the mind?" Nope. Whatcha see is whatcha got in terms of the elements: Earth, Water, Wind, Fire and Spirit. There aren't any "crossovers" either. (Only dual-mages who are supremely rare, and are born with an affinity to TWO elements, as opposed to one. They aren't playable in the RP anyway as there have been, I dunno, three in the history of Cheled? Heh. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but they're VERY rare.)
As for mind-reading, yes. But only if you're a Seer. ;) They have the ability to cast "Truth Spells" among other things, and though mind-reading is extremely difficult, they can pull it off if they're skilled enough. (Definitely Adept or above.) This makes them pretty formiddable, and not particularly reassuring to be around ofttimes... Heh.
And for your last question, again, whatcha see is whacha get in terms of "strange innate abilities." There's human magic and there's being a werewolf with the lycanthropy and all that... But not anything else besides that doesn't involve training. Like Qhuchit with their ninja skills. :D They don't have ninjitsu powers just because they're born in Qhuchit; they have to work for it. Same with the mages.
Hopefully, these answers were clear enough, but always feel free to ask again if not. And thanks for your time. :)

Gah, now my character concept and its 2 pages of backstory died :P Ahh well, it was fun to write. It was a person who unintentionally read the minds of everyone around him :D
More quetions!:
What primarily is it that seers are able to do?
If they see the future, is it actual events happening they see, or something representing it.
How deep is the physical connection between the fammiliar and the Mage, for instance, when one is sick is the other instantly sick also?
What kind of training would a Seer go through?
Are there any rules of magic? Like you arent allowed to do certian things, or in the case with raamah, arent even supposed to be ABLE to do?
Are there any rare materiels in exitence in this world? Like adamantium, mythril, Ironwood, Silverwood, etc...
What are some magically potent herb like things, kinda like the blackthrorn, baisal, and other whatnot that Not so little Ms. Psyco with the ferret (if its a weasal im sorry >.<) is using.
AuroraDragonKaya- 04-26-2007
Tis ADK's turn to answer! (No, still don't have internet.... >.> <.<)
Aaanyway, this'll probably be much more concise then Lara's usual novels. :P
Primarily, Seers see the future. They have very little control on this. They can't ever control what they see in visions, and learning the control of the 'when' is very limited and mostly involves being able to dictate when NOT assaulted by visions. They do, however, tend to learn to interprate them better as they improve.
Furthermore, they have other methods of divination, such as using tarot cards, which a Seer can use with incredible accuracy. (Though without the detail etc of visions) Such readings can even trigger brief or longer visions.
Seers can even enchant objects for divination to increase their potency for those with the skills to use it, though they rarely do so. Gypsies are very well known for having some of these.
Skills concerning the mind are actually secondary, which can involve spells to sense truth and lies, sensing the presence of other beings.... Masters are even said to be able to willingly pick up surface thoughts, images and emotions.
There's also rumors involving Seers (and all spirit mages, for that matter) and souls, but hardly anything concrete or assured as factual.
On the whole, Seers are known from being heavily detached, oddball individuals.
Mostly, they see actual events, or flashes of them. Of course, these are all POTENTIAL futures. There's no guarantees they'll actually happen, there's self fulfilling prophesies, etc. A Seer will find themselves having to learn how flexible time is, what effects they could have, the importance of potential, and of restraint....
Often, the juxtaposition of living in a world that's half reality, have possibility, sometimes trying to prevent a bad future only to make it worse, etc, will drive the Seers insane.
On the matter of familiars getting sick.... while a familiar might not actually get an identical infection, they might as well, as either way they're going to FEEL it, and all that the mage goes through. Aches and pains, headaches and problems thinking, fevers, even actual damage can happen even though they technically don't have whatever might be causing the disease. This goes both ways.
I think it's also worth noting that while both mage and familiar are physically injured, only the one that actually received the injury will bear a scar.
Seers are too rare to have specialized training courses. Many things they do are self taught. Also, the Gypsies have their own method of training those within their ranks, specializing in Spirit mages and bridging off of teachings first provided by the First Mage, but they do NOT train outsiders.
In the schooling system, Seers have independent studies, study directly under some of the top seers of the school (which is probably Oron, if they're Solumian) as well as the core and standard classes of the students.
The majority of their control, however, past learning basics about spellweaving, tends to be self taught based on discipline, introspection, etc.
There's a lot of things you can't, magically, do. (The magical law, equivilant) ^^;; Is there anything more specific?
On that note, there are ALSO a lot of magically potent herbs. However, the herb associations are based on modern paganism, so finding information on it shouldn't be too hard. ;)
As far as rare materials... beyond enchanted items, no. (Though if there were, they probably wouldn't be allowed in the rp unless you had a good excuse.... and the only one I can think of atm that I'd accept would be nobility.)

I just noticed that the translation that appears when you scroll over Tivona's name in the cast page appears to be in a different language than every other minor character. (Barak's name is in lunelines. Raamah's just looks wierd and appears to be in a cursive form of Solum.) I assume the language Tivona's name is written in is Sei. Is this a recent change or did everyone just miss a hint that Tivona is not only a bitch, but a traitor as well?
