can a human illusion mage enchant an item to make a werewolf seem human? the reason i'm asking is for my ideas for a character, that way when we can finnaly use werewolves, i'm prepared.
AuroraDragonKaya- 02-28-2007
I think the better question is... why would the werewolf want to seem human as it is?
Spiritwolf- 02-28-2007
ok, ok. this is just an idea that has been going around in my head. my ideas come from me imagining the things my character does, so it sometimes has me questioning things. the reason is that he ain't from the continent the comic takes place in, he came from a distant island the size of solum. his entire pack was killed in a fight with another pack, and he was the only survivor. when he recovered, he knew all he had was lost and he couldn't do a thing about it, so he stowed away on an exploration ship. the ship met a very big storm the likes of which the sailors had never seen. long story short, the ship was crushed and he somehow survived. he was washed up on the beach and a reclusive mage found him and helped him get back on his feet. he doesn't know anything about the place and can only speak the language the natives on the island spoke and luneline. the mage taught him how to read and write in solum, and gave him an armband that would help him fit in. the character never had a problem with humans. dang, i didn't expect to go into a long winded explanation. still working on him, so the more info you can tell me, the better this character can get XD

I can tell you already it woukldnt work. x.x;; There is no way anyone can come from anywhere aside from the main continent, if indeed humans (or werewolves, for that matter) live beyond it. For all intents and purposes, what you see is the entirety of the world.
Nothing outside it will ever be mentioned in the comic, either, nor could a vessel survive.
(Another note3, werewolves get seasick easily and arent fond of boats, preffering their paws planted firmly on land. It'd also be difficult to stow away. ;P)
Spiritwolf- 02-28-2007
oh, dang it! thank the gods i came up with several backups with a few changes. this is, thankfully, the only one from a different continent, so i'm not all that messed up, but still, i have a craving for knoledge, especially when it comes to werewolves and magic(so this is right up my alley)
Irerising- 02-28-2007
And bless you for that! (Not to mention your tremendous sportsmanship. Seriously.) Gnosis would definitely approve. :D
We absolutely don't mind people asking a bunch of questions, as with every one, it makes us develope the Cheledian world that much further. So, in effect, by asking us things, you're helping the world become that much clearer, for all of us! So kudos to you!
(Oooh, "kudos!" I haven't used that word in far too long; it's among my all-time favorites.)
Spiritwolf- 02-28-2007
ok, another question, and probably a stupid one at that... do werewolves use wepeons like swords and axes?
also, i like the word kudos too, but my fav is yall, don't know why, it just is.
Irerising- 02-28-2007
"Y'all" is undeniably a good one. And so handy for those times (and they are more frequent then we Americans like to think) when you need to use second person plural. It's a beautiful thing.
But about your question (which is not stupid in the least). My current understanding is that they mostly don't use any weaponry. I mean, even when shifted to their more "human" form, they have some serious claws, and their teeth are not to be messed with either. Also they have more brute strength than any human would (duh), and are often a lot faster as well. So... that's how they'd compensate for that.
Also, if a werewolf is doing a lot of traveling, chances are they wouldnn't want the hassle of having to come up with some way of carrying a weapon around with them while they're in wolf form (since that's the form they generally take when going over large distances; it's faster and easier to cover ground in). Though they more often take human form to fight, I don't think most werewolves would sacrifice their mobility just to carry around a tool they hardly need in the first place.
So. In summary, they mostly just stick to their natural hand-to-hand badassery, and, if a priest, any magic they might have as well.

ok cool, another question, which i think ADK tried to explain but went over my head. in this world, is lycanthropy(other than the lunacy curse, OOO i love that word, lunacy) hereditary, or can it be from the traditional bite?
also, my mom always said yousens, which i always thought was funny.
Irerising- 02-28-2007
Well, there's "true lycanthropy" which is what each werewolf has, and is, yes, hereditary (as it's, y'know, a part of the species), where they can shift from form to form at will (saving on the full moon, where they're compelled to stay in their purely wolf form). Then there's the lycanthropy "bestowed" upon a human by the curse. This causes them to shift ONLY at the full moon, and even then, they're not quite like a regular werewolf, but more like the traditional depictions of them. They flip out and attack things, and are quite dangerous. (Which is why the curse is so rarely used.) This is NOT hereditary, but IS passed on when the cursed human bites someone while under the influence of the curse (IE, during the full moon.)
Hope that's clearer for you.

ok, another question, do werewolves have different hair colors, or just white?
and, if a natural werewolf was to, uhmmm, *coughs* mate with a human, could there be a child, and if so, what would it be?
AuroraDragonKaya- 02-28-2007
Werewolves have natural hair color, as well as colors that would work in werewolves (they might have naturally streaked hair, for example.) Actually, all white wolves are not especially common, as will be mentioned when we get to there.
Crossbreeds will not be allowed in the rp, I'm afraid. Crossbreeding is highly discouraged on both sides, even with gypsies who view werewolves with reverence.
I'm not sure there's any known occurrences of it proceeding the comic.... but its too unlikely/impossible/whatever to be allowed. Sorry. ^.^;
(Werewolves treasure silver as Lune's mineral and use it when they make stuff. If they had weapons, they'd also be made of silver. Not as strong as some human things, but likely only made to be used for ritual purposes anyway.)
On another note, werewolves can top closer to 7', despite my earlier words. (I managed to convince Lara to make it a bit taller, as it was actually bothering ME that the werewolves were so small, heh)
Spiritwolf- 02-28-2007
silver?*someone coughs in background* oookaaay.
anyway, here is another question(wow, i'm on a roll 0_0) why don't werewolves get along with humans and vice versa? i mean, i would be more afraid of another human myself. i tend to think that in alot ways, animals are more civilized than we are, so i may just be nieve
Irerising- 02-28-2007
That's a beautiful frame of mind, Godhand. Heh. And if more people held animals in that kind of respect the world would certainly be a better place...
However, I digress. The nature of the werewolf/human mutual dislike goes waaaaaaaaaay back, so far that neither race could tell you how it began, though it certainly wasn't just one instance. It probably just has more to do with the fact that the werewolves, though be MUCH fewer in numbers, are powerful, intimidating figures in their own right, and this frightens humans. Especially since werewolves were around long before magic, so the humans didn't even have that to bolster their courage.
Besides, these are true creatures of the nighttime. By their very nature, they're mysterious and more isolated from day-oriented creatures, and, as is often said, people fear what they don't understand. It's a frequently used line, but also very, very true. I'm sure it also doesn't help that the werewolves are absolutely devoted followers of Lune, who, though she is Nighttime and Song, is also Madness and a very, very different (even alien) creature from her brother, Ilios. These two siblings aren't known for getting along spectacularly anyway, and since Ilios is the patron God of humans...
Also, each tends to look down on the other. They each consider the other to be base. Animalistic, even. The humans, well... for obvious reasons, and the werewolves because of the barbarousness of human behavior, what with the warring and the treatment of children sometimes... Stuff like that. Not to mention the moral differences. A werewolf has no qualms killing, especially if it isn't its own kind, while a human... Well. You get the idea.
There are just fundamental differences there, which are too great a hurdle for the vast majority of humans to look past. (The stuff mentioned above is only some of it. The divide runs pretty dang deep.) So humans tend to flip out, and maybe kill a werewolf or two, that causes a bunch of bad blood and... In the end, the one thing both sides can agree on is that it's a good idea to just steer clear of the other.
It's a big mess.
But about the silver... Yeah. We realize it's a rather dramatic twist on the traditional, but we wanted to include the significance of it, and, think about it. What color do you associate with the moon? It just seemed to fit well. ;)
Spiritwolf- 03-01-2007
wow, that's deep! another question, do the werewolves live in houses, or do they sleep outside?
also, do journymen mages have to wear their school uniforms? or can they wear what they want?
