Wasn't this thread once about music?
I mean... not to be a downer or anything... just curious.

Technically....
...yes. XD
But conversations go into tangents, why shouldn't threads?
Sides, this IS the "Anything Goes" forum. ;3

Hah, speaking of music though...
I'm starting to hit my nervous streak about the band's upcoming show... I get those nasty butterflies when I start thinking of it now. :-(
Zigren- 02-23-2007
I used to play the violin, and I remember my first Solo and Ensemble(I was in a trio at the time) performance I wanted to jump off a cliff or eats huge quantities of fries. Imagining something or other won't help one bit. What you need to do is buckle down and pay attention to the sounds you're making, and not to those who are listening to your art.

I think it's safe to say that I'm a pretty practiced performer (heh, 7 years of musical theatre), so I'm well equipped to handle the nerves once I get on stage. It's just the time prior that I spending fretting away. ;)
And my solution to that is to not think about it as much as possible. Oh, and that and asking myself what the worst possible outcome of it could be. Though, stagefright is rarely susceptable to reason, damn its invisible hide! *shakes her fist*
Zigren- 02-23-2007
o_o When I was preforming, I'd mess up once, then I'd keep on dying after that and I'd have to completely stop and get back into sync. I wanted to stab my bow through my eye.
Irerising- 02-23-2007
Ouchie. I imagine that would have made playing a little trickier...
But yeah. For me, mistakes are inherantly part of the deal, and the nature of live performance, so I don't tend to worry about them at all. The one exception to this is during an audition. God... Those things are... evil. I understand their purpose, but it's like concentrated Bad. With a captial "B," yes.
Zigren- 02-23-2007
o_o So happy I never had to go through one. I'd probably have managed to swallow my rosin.
Irerising- 02-23-2007
Taaaaasty. Heh. And yeah. I try to keep the auditioning I do to an absolute mimimal, as it doesn't seem to get easier with time. Actually, that's a lie. But I'm still tweaking out about the one I'm going in for the day after my show... CRAP! I need to come up with an audition song!
Zigren- 02-23-2007
@_@ Good luck!
But now I'm off to go take a shower~ Toodles for now~

Well...
News about the show: it's currently been canceled, and I don't yet know the rescheduling date. You see, the Rockit Room has apparently changed its policy to let abosolutely NO folks in under age 21. Meaning, my poor little underage band shan't be allowed in there even to play. :(
On the upside, though, they're gonna try and reschudule it for a time during the day when the bar would be open, so hopefully we'll be able to play then (with four or five other underage bands), and if we get to the next round, that's an all-ages venue! Trick is, if they schedule it for too much later in March, two of my bandmates will be gone to India, of all places (one of them is going with his class to interview the Dalai Lama, while the other shall be handling the video recording of it; I kid you not), so if it happens that way, we'll be appealing to the music festival to just let us pass on to the next round where we'd be sure to sell them a whole bunch of tickets. It's all up in the air at the moment, though, so I don't know...
Another bit of silver lining is that suddenly my weekend is MUCH less stressful. I mean, I still have those beastly auditions, but without the stress of the show the day before, that's a LOT less intimidating. But yeah. I'll be sure to pass along more news as I know it. Not that many of you care overmuch, I'm sure, but for the minority that do... Heh.
...And on one last, completely unrelated note, who here besides ADK knows of the band Within Temptation? 'Cause I'm totally loving them right at this moment. :D
Ryougetsu- 02-28-2007
Very sorry to hear about the cancel-date but look at the brightside, least you've just a little more time to work things out with your performace ques and such? *coughssoisntgoodatthiscoughs* Not being able to play an instrument nor having a voice that doesn't kill plants, I can literally say I have no clue what you're going through there but still am rooting for this all to work out; in your favor of course. xD
Now onto something I do know about: Within Temptation. Granted, however, that I have only recently been introduced to this band, I still like to think I know a good thing when I hear it. Memories is my absolute FAVORITE song of theirs. The vocals are excellent, no joke, but it's the ambience that sucks me in and leaves me with stars in my eyes and my heart on overdrive. Have you ever gotten gooseflesh just hearing the opening cords of a song or within the first few lyrics? I have and let me tell you, Within Temptation gives them to me every single time I listen to one of their songs. Stellar group.
Mmm to the Dutch! <3
Irerising- 02-28-2007
You win such HUGE points, Ryou! And I definitely agree that don't need to be a longtime fan to appreciate their greatness. I'm also totally with you on the ambiance thing. I mean, I know my fair share of amazing singers and Sharon Von Aden is pretty good, but in terms of sheer technical skills, she's not the best. But her vocals combined with the amazing components of the rest of the band (not to mention the orchestra and choir :D) make for something truly magnificent. It's great.
As for the show... I'm actually a bit grateful it's not this Saturday, 'cause I was kiiiiiind of flippin' out. Heh. But now I'm better. Thanks so much for your support though.
Oh, and one last thing: did you know that death metal is good for plants? Something about the constant cacophony and the "death grunts" and whatnot really appeals to flora, apparently. So, maybe you have the greenest thumb, er... voice among us, in actuality! ;) (I learned this from Myth Busters, if anyone's wondering. ADK can at-*test*-('") to this.)
Spiritwolf- 02-28-2007
DUDE! i love mythbusters! my favorite episode was the hindinburg myth. Adam and Jamie are freakin awsome!
AuroraDragonKaya- 03-03-2007
Awe, I missed that episode! I only see it so often, but its good stuff....
Hey, here's a relevant music question- anyone know good werewolf songs?
Aint your Fairytale and Full Moon by Sonata Arctica are two of my favorite werewolf songs.... x3
