Music
Created out of curiosity.... so, what type of music does everyone listen to? Favorite bands? Anything else applicable? Random fact: ADK has long wanted to learn to play the Cello.

Psh, violin>cello. o_o Although it's much easier to vibrato on cello's than violins, at least from my experience. At all times I'm on the computer I have my radio on tuned into a Country Music channel, not that old twangy bluegrass gunk or ainchent country music as well, more of that newfangled rock/country music though ._., Although I'm not into music the few CD's I do own are classical music, Cannon in D my favorite song on any of them. I really have no favorite kind of music, and will listen to it if people are actually singing rather than screaming uncomprehendingly or if it isn't bluegrass. *shivers* Bluegrass... o_o I'm gonna have dreams of hillbillies and spittoons tonight, I know it.

I love violins too (really, I tend to have an affection for strings in general) but there's something about the cello... Especially this one song. (Flames, by Vast) the cello line... ahh... really, the whole song is one of those things that just reverberates in your very soul. I melt when I hear it.... (I adore canon in D, btw. <3 I have ever since I was a small child. x3 It was actually one of my first favorite songs...) Most of the music I listen to is Symphonic Metal, which Lara introduced me to, and I frickin ADORE. Good stuff. I also like techno/trance depending on the song and my mood, some alternative, rock.... new age? (Enya, Loreena McKennit... much love for them) video game music (Nobuo Uematsu rocks) and good musical music. (Sondheim and Le's Miserables are more things Lara introduced me to, and Phantom of the Opera is serious LOVE. <3) I'm also quite fond of Lara's band. I like going to their band practice and listening while I read or draw. x3 I think thats the big stuff. ^.^;

Hmm, I hear you, cellos are really fun to listen to and to watch being played. I just had an issue between choosing between the nice, light, hand-held violin, or a big, bulky cello to take home from school everyday to practice. ._. Personally I think I chose wisely. So, you're a fellow orch-a-dork at heart, eh?

For those of you who like strings, you should look into Apocalyptica. They might play a little heavy for your tastes, but they're a pretty good band. They do covers of hard rock and classical music, with four cellos and occasional voice accompaniment. I don't care too much for Metallica, but the Apocalyptica covers of Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters are really quite good.

I know I should have, but I haven't ever heard of ANY of those proper nouns you just used. o_o;;

ZOMG, music! Yeah, music is a huge chunk of my life. I'm almost always listening to something, whether it be classical, metal, showtunes or whatnot. As I'm sure I've mentioned, I'm in a band as the lead vocalist. We're called Seraphate, and play music of the symphonic/melodic variety. We actually have a show coming up on the 3rd of March in San Francisco's Rockit Room, but, sadly, it's a 21 or older venue, so many of the people we would like to come cannot. :cry: Aaaaaanywho's. When it's not metal (of the Nightwish, Epica, Kamelot, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Sonata Arctica, etc. variety), I'm often drawn to Loreena McKennitt, or this one Canadian group called "Autorickshaw." They're pretty awesome. Jazz meets traditional Indian music. Oh! And Sondheim. Sondheim rules, as do most any of his shows, my favorite of which are "Into the Woods" and "Sweeney Todd." Both highly recommended. And, er... There's much more to say, but I grow bored for the moment. Hah. More to come later, I'm sure.

They take the cello to a whole new level of badass. 0_'

You get something else then. Go find something from Franz Ferdinand.

Zigren- 02-18-2007

oO You're talking to me, right? Well, I don't particularly think that it matters as I have no music playing devices other than the radio and my computer, which has no sound drivers installed, so it doesn't count -_-;

Tokyo Police Club! Islands! (<---the old Unicorns) I like classical just fine, however I hear it wayyyy to much. (Minuet + Marimba= O_o.) I like older music too, like old country (Im so...odd.) or strange english bands. I'm listening to Damien Rice right now, he's kinda cool. ...and sometimes, when no one is watching, I listen to techno. ^^ I do not enjoy Joss Stone. EDIT: I just got a ipod shuffle...I only paid 20 cause I got a gift certificate for my b-day. So I finally have a Pod. And I named him Pope Pious V. He's green. :3

AuroraDragonKaya- 02-18-2007

I haven't heard of a lot of those bands/artists. ^.^;; ADK doesn't get out much, heh.... (ADK wants an ipod! T_T;; My bdays coming up too... **ninjas** Of course, there are other things ADK needs to worry about getting first, like a new tablet pen, font creator and fanime admission....)

Zigren- 02-18-2007

@_@ America needs more big gift-getting-er-giving holidays.

Silvertip- 02-19-2007

Ah iPods, those wonderful little devices that can store all the music in the world in a few sqare inches, if you pay enough. Myself, I have a 1st generation white Nano, named SilverRain. (Yes, I like silver. A lot! :mrgreen: Of course, I have barely a hundred songs on it... (I have to find the names of my favorite songs...:() I listen to just about anything that isn't rap and actually has some musical quality in it...

Zigren- 02-19-2007

I found out last Thursday that I am the only one of my friends that doesn't own some sort of iPod/MP3 player. ._.
