If you really like learning obscure languages, you should check out Sarus. It was written by an award-winning flash animator, based on something some dead french dude invented, he wrote it for his characters. But talk about versatile.... It can be spoken, written (either alphabetically or in runes), sung, painted, signed (with your choice of hand signals), played on a musical instrument, or translated through just about any other medium where you can get seven distinct signals across.

Heh. Weren't we supposed to work on learning that, Garuda?
Garuda- 03-09-2007
Yes. Yes we were.
>_>

I want to create a country and have that be the National Language. Of course dunno if I'd actually want to have to learn it oO; I have a hard enough time with a normal language, like Spanish @_@

Most asian languages have more ideograms than Sarus has words in it's entire dictionary... >_>

I think I'll stick to my three kinds of English (four if you count Deep Southern), thanks. xD I'm terrible at languages and completely fail at speaking them. Known, for the most part, a bit of German and Japanese. Fail at Spanish and Italian. And French. . .gawds I should be shot for attempting it. xD
Garuda- 03-10-2007
That puts you ahead of most Americans.
Most Americans know how to speak English, and know how to speak English really slowly and loudly at foreigners.

My aim is to become fluent in Latin so that I can mutter about flowers and murmuring creeks and still sound like I'm summoning the Devil. :D This, as opposed to speakign German in an agressive undertone and sounding like I am the Devil.
But yeah. Lesson learned: Latin is awesome.

But a sexy devil! *melts over the German language*

I know a couple of dudes who speak German, but whenever they'd speak it to me (back in the days of Way Back When), it just came across as either condescending or malevolent... Depending on which brother was doing the speaking.
It certainly can be a smexy language under the right cirumstances though. I won't deny that. However, not a big fan of it when sung to classical tunes... It just doesn't blend as well as, say, french or Italian. *shrug*
Zigren- 03-10-2007
Personally, I think German sounds like fancy cussing oO;;
Spiritwolf- 03-12-2007
my favorite is japanese, and don't ask why, i just like it.
also, sorry i havn't been here for a while, evil parents + little devil child = no downtime on computer

Mm, the only two places that I would like to go, that speak another language, would be either Japan or Italy to see my long lost(>_> as in my grand parents lost most contact other than phones when they changed continents. And as in my Italian grandparents died ._., Although my other grandma still talks to her brother.) family xD. Sadly, my school offers neither. ,_, That makes me sad.
