Wow, those are sharp fingers. XD
The thumb looks ok though, because even though it ends in a point, it's also tapered and has a nice shape to it.
The others are strait and sharp like knives. (Luckily, it's a demon, you can pretend its on purpose. XP)
However, from what I see, there's no reason why you can't draw very nice hands- you're clearly capable, if the thumb is any indication. Even if it means extra effort now, if you just start drawing more complicated hands, it'd become second nature and easier (and nicer) in the ends. :3
To start, you should just sketch out joints first (fingers are rarely perfectly straight ;3) and start doing some of the nice tapering you do on the thumbs when it fits.
Don't worry about getting it perfect, just start doing it. :3

xD I can do normal hands, and the sharp fingers ARE on purpose xD I use them on my merpeople as well. I've got another demon picture with both a normal and and a demon hand, I'll go scan and upload it to show you~
(Although it's a really sloppy long-armed picture... >_>;; just ignore that..)

xD There's the two~ It's not that I CAN'T draw the hands, they just make me have to put some effort into making them look right... D: The other hands are just so easy, it's like four lines-done.
=o I know what you mean about the practice thing, I used to have to spend like three minutes figuring out which side the thumb was supposed to go on, but now it's just automatic. xD
Oh, btw, ignore the random animal head, that was a doodle page. ie: a piece of paper I have next to the computer that I doodle/draw on while I'm bored.
AuroraDragonKaya- 10-04-2007
Ah, so I see. o.o Very cool looking. :3
Anyway, still say you should practice human hands more. XP
Zigren, you do have a sketchbook, don't you? If not, it sounds like you need one rather badly. :P
Zigren- 10-04-2007
D: Yeah, I agree, I do need one, I have a few sheafs worth of loose computer paper with doodles all over them-- front and back xD
I DO desperately need more practice with human hands... actually I desperately need more practice with every aspect of drawing xD

Get a sketchbook! x3
Oh, speaking of practicing things.... I finished my -*test*-('") an hour early in class. It was on the other side of campus from the computer lab, but really near the library so I went there, hoping to get some information on cave paintings for a report I should have done weeks ago....
...unfortunately, I got distracted by other sorts of drawing books in the same area, and instead wasted time looking at books on anatomy and perspective.
(Well, anatomy- didn't get to the perspective ones. ^.^;; )
On the plus side, the anatomy book was very nice. Though I only scanned it quickly and did some fast sketches since I didn't have much time, it showed not just bone and muscle, but had little diagrams to show where on the bone the muscles lied.
It was primarily illustrations, which for a visual person like me is perfect. :3
I wrote down the name of the book, too, so I'd be able to find it later if need be. ^^
Zigren- 10-06-2007
=o Awesome. :D You should totally tell me the title of that book so I can go find one too.
xD I bought a how to draw book once. The only thing I used it for was proportions. D: A waste of $5 when I could have just ripped out one page when nobody was looking.
D: Perspective is something I have SO much trouble with. Like I can see it in my head, but I just can't draw it right. Darn 2-D sheet of paper! xD

Paper is 3d, dude. The surface itself is 2d however.
I have this annoying habit of posting in every thread on a dead board. Kind of like this one.

It's like forum CPR. You figure if you keep spewing hot air into it and beating on it with your post hits, then maybe it'll come back to life someday. Until then, you're at least keeping it from putting that other foot over the threshold.

I had my little roleplay going for awhile but that died too... Also, YaY Shard! 42!

I prefer to think of it as throwing a golf ball down a corridor, seeing if something happens.
It's not CPR, it's science.
